Trump's executive order to revoke birthright citizenship temporarily suspended.

Desk News: A court in the country has temporarily suspended US President Donald Trump's executive order, which revoked the birthright citizenship of children of illegal immigrants in the United States. Judge John Coffenor made this decision in Washington state on Thursday (January 23). Accordingly, Trump's executive order will be suspended for 14 days. Reuters reports.

Trump was sworn in as US president for a second term at noon on Monday (January 20) local time. In his inaugural speech, he announced that he would take tough action against immigrants. Then he announced changes to the existing rules on birthright citizenship in the United States. Under this, if an illegal immigrant gives birth in the United States, the child will not automatically receive US citizenship.

Following Trump's decision, 22 states, the District of Columbia and the city of San Francisco filed a joint lawsuit in federal court in Boston on Tuesday. The lawsuit argues that the president's attempt to strip birthright citizenship is a gross violation of the U.S. Constitution. In addition, the lawsuit was filed before the American Civil Liberties Union, several immigrant groups and a pregnant woman filed similar lawsuits.

During a court hearing on Thursday, Judge John Coffner said, "This is clearly an unconstitutional order."

However, Trump told reporters that he would appeal the judge's order. The U.S. Justice Department also said it would fight his executive order.
